Slimming World
At Cancer Research UK, we’re proud to call Slimming World our partner. Since 2013, Slimming World’s Consultants, members and head office employees have raised more than £20m to support our life-saving work through their hugely successful fundraising campaigns.
An annual stock generation campaign where Slimming World Consultants and members donate clothes, they’ve slimmed out to be sold in our 600 Cancer Research UK shops. The campaign has gone from strength to strength, providing a regular source of high-quality stock for its retail stores, worth on average over £2m per year.
50% of the value of clothes donated [in the UK] as part of the Slimming World Big Clothes Throw (max £3m) will go towards research into using the immune system to fight solid cancers. The remaining 50% will be used for research into cancer.
In 2023 Slimming World became an official sponsor of Race for Life, with over 8000 members and Consultants taking part in events across the country. Slimming World also activated at over 85% of the Race for life events. Slimming World have pledged their commitment to Race for Life for 2024 and 2025 too!
More than 100,000 members have taken part in challenges such as walking up to 10,000 steps a day for a month, running in the London Marathon or taking part in online challenges during the pandemic. These fundraising campaigns have helped members be more active, aligning with Slimming World’s programme while also raising £800k for pioneering cancer.
A shared goal
Like us, Slimming World is committed to helping the public make healthier choices and reduce their risk of cancer. Slimming World's donations help fund research into cancers related to obesity because we share a goal to accelerate our understanding of the links between weight and cancer. By sharing information and expertise, together we're building on this understanding and reaching new audiences with important messaging.
