About Shine Night Walk Glasgow
People of all abilities can take part.
The 10k walk will take between 1.5 to 3 hours to complete.

"A friend asked if anyone would like to join her at Shine Night Walk Manchester I jumped at the chance. I have been treated for cancer twice so know how important Cancer Research UK is in helping those affected by cancer. We formed a team of six- our ages span every decade from 30 to 70. The night was well organised with plenty of stewards giving encouragement and making sure the route was clear. So many people out enjoying their Saturday night clapped and congratulated us as we walked past. This added to an already great atmosphere. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were pleased to have raised over £2,000 for such an important charity. We came away with a real buzz. I’d definitely recommend taking part"

1 in 2 people born in the UK after 1960 will get cancer in their lifetime*. Our research saves lives.
Over the last 40 years, Cancer Research UK's work has helped double breast cancer survival, we were a key player in the development of radiotherapy, and we played a role in developing 8 of the world’s top 10 cancer drugs
Although we are proud of our achievements, there is still more to be done. The money you raise will help to bring us closer to our ambition of 3 in 4 people surviving their cancer for 10 years or more by 2034.
How fundraising helps Glasgow
Glasgow is home to our world-renowned Scotland Institute where our work spans the whole spectrum of cancer research, from investigating the molecular basis of cancer to developing new treatments.
Cancer Research UK spent over £23m in 2022/23.
Research happening right now in Glasgow includes:
- We’re developing a blood test to detect pancreatic cancer.
- Personalising medicine for people with bowel cancer.
- We’re making treatments better for children with leukaemia.

Please bring your own reusable water bottle filled. We have removed our single-use plastic bottles of water at the finish and pit stop stations and instead are providing water re-fill stations for you to top up and stay hydrated!

Shine_Glasgow_Travel
Car - The SEC has plenty of paid parking on-site at The Hydro Multi-Storey car park. There are a number of electric vehicle charging points within this car park. There are a number of electric vehicle charging points within this car park. There is also a drop-off zone to the rear of the campus, follow the signage around the venue for directions.
Bus - Local bus services X19 and 23 stop near to the venue. The 100 Riversider service stops at the SEC. Please visit SEC.co.uk for further information.
Train - The nearest train station is Exhibition Centre Station. The station is a short walk from the venue using the pedestrian footbridge which is well signposted.
Cycle - The SEC is accessible via many cycle lanes and paths including one particularly picturesque route that runs alongside the River Clyde. A covered cycle rack is located in the Scottish Event Campus between the SEC Centre and the SEC Armadillo.
