Cancer Awareness Roadshow

Every year, our experienced nurses talk to thousands of people about spotting the early signs of cancer.

About the Roadshow

Every year, Cancer Research UK's Cancer Awareness Roadshow sets off to talk to people about cancer.

Our Cancer Awareness nurses chat to people about how small health changes can reduce their cancer risk. They also encourage people to know what's normal for their body and give them confidence to go to a GP with any concerns.

Spotting cancer early can make a real difference as treatment is more likely to be successful when it is diagnosed at an early stage. Our experienced nurses help thousands of people every year and so far we've reached over 800,000 people.

The Roadshow is a welcoming place where you can chat to a nurse, have a free health test and get handy leaflets:

  • Talk to one of our team about how to reduce the risk of cancer, spotting cancer early and the importance of screening for certain types of cancer

  • Find out about local and national health services

  • Have a free Smokerlyzer test

  • Find out your Body Mass Index and waist-to-height ratio to check if your weight is within a healthy range

  • Take home a wide range of leaflets and free health information

  • Have an in-depth and confidential chat with one of our nurses

Supported by Ronan Keating and the Marie Keating Foundation

We launched the Roadshow in partnership with Ronan Keating and the Marie Keating Foundation in 2006.

We want to say a big thank you to Ronan, the Keating family and everyone at the Marie Keating Foundation for their continued support over the years.

Thanks to their partnership we've helped bring cancer awareness information to over 800,000 people.

My family and I were devastated when my mum died of cancer in 1998. We wanted to do something positive to help people understand more about cancer, so fewer families have to go through what we did. We’re excited to work with Cancer Research UK and be part of something that is making a difference for thousands of people every year.

Come visit us

Our four regional teams travel around Scotland, North West England, North East England and London in the areas we’re needed most. We mostly set up outdoors, but you can find us in shopping centres, libraries or other community venues. We take the Roadshow to big events too – for example, agricultural shows, Pride events, Melas and other community and cultural events.

We often return to the same venues so we can provide ongoing support to people. And some people we’ve chatted to come back and let us know how they’re getting on, or ask for further help and signposting.

Opening times vary but generally you can visit anytime between 10am and 4pm, Tuesday to Thursday.
